Hello, Caroline. Hey Cleve, thanks for having me. Hey, it's so fun. And now, I'm sorry I shouldn't be talking about your business on the radio, but we talked about your business last time because you came on just a few days before you got married. Yes,
which means you're officially crazy that you're doing a radio show on your wedding week, but thank you very much for doing that. And you're happily married, and um, Yes. Anything else? Happily married. We've got a baby boy on the way in March. So, if you hit all the milestones, please. Love that. Difference a year makes.
That is so, so fun. And by the way, I'm going to say a special prayer for your son, that he never has to go to Children's Hospital. Now that's what you're here is to help people in those situations. But the best way to do is just to stay away from it. I have been there several times in my life. Uh, once with my, I think she was three years old at the time and she had her, she was leaning out of the garage door and had her fingers on the inside of the door jam.
And one of her sisters closed the door and it just took the, her little pinky finger and the next one up and just kind of broke the tip off. And, but When we got to Children's Hospital, um, it was not, uh, too long before, by the way, one of the caregivers said, um, dad, uh, we love you, but you need to stand over there and be quiet.
And I'm like, okay, got you. Because I was being very bossy with, with the kid, like I knew what was going on. And within an hour and a half, they had a pediatric hand surgeon there and her fingers functioned perfectly. You can see a little bit, but it's, and I know that's By the way, there's so many people out there that have stories that are so much worse than that.
That's just a little, little kind of a light story, but it's amazing what you guys, uh, are able to do there. So I'm going to start out with questions about the hospital. I drive up and down 85 all the time and I see huge Arthur M blank hospital, which I guess I knew that maybe he had been involved somehow, but I'd like to know, I would assume he made a sizable donation, uh, to help build the hospital.
donation being 200 million. So, um, to open this You know, commodity for our community. Right? Um, you hit the nail on the head cleave with having a child on the way. I don't want to be anywhere else. Right? Having this luxury in our community is such a gift. Um, we September 29th marked a year out from opening our doors.
2024. We are, um,
Serving patients. Right. Uh, so the exterior is fully finished? Yes. We're starting landscaping and finishing up the interiors. Um, a few stats for you. 200 million square feet. Um, wait a minute, which is the, the, the, the hospital or everything that's built there is 200 million. The whole campus? The, the whole campus.
Okay. Grand blank. Yes. Yes. Whoa. So the whole hospital, 19 floors. Wow. Um, fun fact about that. We're actually in the flight path of, uh, P D K airport. Really? Or per regulation, we were told we could go up 360 feet and we topped out at a little over 350. Oh, so you'd used almost every foot. That is why we are 19 stories.
Um, really? So clinical teams will start moving in, in June to have about four months to train and get acclimated to this space. And then. you know, um, September 29th, we're calling it the most exciting day in Children's history. The most stressful to I'm sure all of Eggleston, all of our patients that I will stand to, um, Arthur and blank in the span of 12 hours.
So it is going to be a big day. Um, very exciting. And I just can't wait to see how this new hospital changes the community. Um, We are building this hospital for truly like generations for generations. Well, it's amazing. And I know this does not matter, but compared to what was on all that property before, it's absolutely gorgeous.
And I know that's not the purpose of a hospital is to be pretty, but that's a good looking hospital when I drive up and down 85. And I have to say, I'm sure most people listening know that Arthur M. Blank was one of the founders, a co founder of Home Depot. Uh, based right here in Metro Atlanta. And I have to tell you, it makes me very proud to have been a loyal home depot shopper all of these years, because you know what, we all got a little of our money back with the, uh, with the new, new children's hospital.
I think that is amazing. Now, part of your role is not just your children's hospital stuff, but you manage, I think the program's called miracle family, if I remember correctly. How does that work? I think I remember from last time, but refresh me. Yeah, it's one of my favorite parts of my role and it makes Children's, which is a huge system, cleave feels so much smaller.
We choose every year three to four families to be the champions and ambassadors of Children's. They are patients. Um, they have been served by Children's and Their life has been drastically impacted in a positive way by children's care. Um, this year we have three miracle kids. Um, one, Samira is about to turn 19, which I love because it's, you know, is a reminder that we serve kids, you know, zero to 21, right?
Um, we have Nathan who is 13. He's one of our cardiac patients. And then we have Lachlan, who's nine, who, um, is also a cardiac patient, um, and they are just personal. It can make the system just feel a lot more personable when you dive into their story. So just a plug to go to choa. org backslash C M N and on choa.

Now, there has been a long standing partnership between RE MAX, who I am affiliated with, and CMN. Talk to us about that a little bit, please. Oh, we, we love our RE MAX. partnership. Um, this is our 31st year of the partnership. Wow. Um, last year, um, you know, remax agents in the state of Georgia brought in and fundraised about 86, 000 for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.
Um, we, you know, every partnership, when I think about our top five fundraising offices cleave, it looks different. You know, the bread and butter of our partnership is the honor cards where You know, an agent can say thank you to a client during a closed thing by donating in, you know, a client's honor to children.
Yeah, sort of in their name. Yeah. And so, you know, a lot of those start at 30. And so you can see, you know, it, it builds up. Um, I had a RE MAX office. Some agents came to serve breakfast a few months ago in the lobby of our Scottish Rite Hospital, brought Chick fil A and truly just, you know, Friday morning coffee and biscuits to parents walking through the lobby.
That is such a gift, right? So we see a lot of agents and offices not only give You know, you know, monetarily, but they're giving their time and, you know, and they're giving their Their, you know, efforts to really just impact our patients in such a beautiful way. Um, it's so easy with REMAX offices to turn an event into a fundraiser.
Um, an office the other night had, uh, you know, a fundraiser and, and brought in, you know, over 600 for children. So we, it looks different and it, you know, REMAX offices get, get creative and what this partnership looks like. Absolutely. It's amazing. As you told the story about people coming out and actually serving a very things that make me tear up a little bit, but I'm thinking how cool is that?
It is just the neatest thing, uh, taking care of kids, especially because when I look at it, we're taking care of people who really don't have a way to take care of themselves. And in some cases we've got about two minutes left, uh, before the end of the segment. And if somebody's listening and they'd like to get involved with children's hospital or donate to children's miracle network or whatever, how would they do that?
Yeah. So. We talk a lot about the new hospital cleave and you know, one, you know, Arthur blank says that a hundred percent of our future is kids. Right. And so this is a community endeavor. So we are encouraging, you know, everyone to get involved. We're right now doing a campaign where if you go to give, um, dot choa.
org, you were encouraging everyone to donate 19 in honor of the 19 stories of the Okay. Um, so, you know, that's one way to get involved. Um, but I encourage, you know, getting involved can look different for every family, every person. And, um, you know, I love brainstorming with different people. You know, what, what are your strengths? What are your interests? And what that can look like. So if someone, uh, was not in a position to want to donate money, but they had plenty of time and they wanted to volunteer, you could hook them up for that as well.
No problem. Absolutely. Absolutely. And it's interesting, uh, Caroline, I don't know if you've noticed the same thing I have, but uh, the world is kind of stressful lately. Every time I go to the grocery store, the bill is high and the gas bill is high and everything costs more. And so there might be some people out there who not feeling the greatest in the world and maybe a wonderful thing for them to do would be to get out and help someone else.
Cause it could certainly make them feel better. Caroline, I am so, first of all, proud of you getting married, becoming a mom sometime real soon. I absolutely love that. And we're also, also very proud of you and everybody at Children's Miracle Network and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. We love you and we'll have you back sometime real soon.
