Wasn't something that I was totally comfortable with because I've never thought about adding pink to my bedroom, but I'll bet there were plenty of people out there listening who thought, Hmm, maybe I could use a splash of pink. Well, With the Barbie movie premiere in July, would you believe that there was and still is a pink paint shortage?
Did the Barbie movie actually cause a worldwide pink paint shortage? The answer is yes. Thousands of loyal fans were excited for the new Barbie movie that premiered on July 21st. Featuring the pink loving character who was an iconic figure in so many childhoods. I saw the movie and I loved it, and believe it or not, it made the world run out of pink paint.
And here's what happened. The global paint shortage can't entirely be blamed on the Barbie movie as issues including the C Ovid 19 Pan pandemic in stores and storms in Texas. Began disrupting the supply chain long before 2023. It all started with Roscoe Laboratories. That's a great name of a laboratory.
As a producer of the Pink Paint for the Barbie movie, supply chain issues began with the pandemic when manufacturing slowdowns and shipment delays caused the paint shortage in February, 2021. The saga continued when Texas faced a deep freeze where huge ice storms. By the Gulf Coast damaged important raw materials necessary for Roscoe's paint manufacturing inclu, including epoxy resins and solvents like acetone.
A vital ingredient ingredient in the epoxy. In the epoxy resins are polymers, which are petrochemicals, which petrochemicals produces cut production when the pandemic began. Also, hurricane Laura hit Louisiana. In August of 2020 with Hurricane Zeta coming a month later, this affected air. These affected areas were hotspots for polymer production, so the Texas deep freeze soon after served only to worsen the preexisting supply condition.
So where does the Barbie movie fit in? The Barbie movies contribution to the paint shortage came much more recently. The movie sets are covered with a bright pink hue that is integral to the aesthetics of the movie. Roscoe already low on supply, sold the Barbie movie, virtually everything they had in stock, and caused a worldwide shortage of Roscoe's fluorescent pink paint.
As of June, 2023, the paint shortage was still in effect. Artists are still able to purchase the Barbie pink paint from the department stores such as Home Depot, but companies. And movie makers may not be able to obtain the vast amounts of paint necessary for their projects. Paint in general is still forcing a shortage.
Uh, Sherwin Williams says that a shortage in paint as well as other home building sectors have caused cooling in the housing market. And how can companies plan for a shortage? Many companies buy up large amounts of the materials before it becomes scarce in the face of a shortage. This is known as stockpiling, and if you're gonna make a Barbie movie, maybe you should be stockpiling some of that paint.
I. Roscoe's outcome provides a great example of why stockpiling is not the ultimate answer to avoiding risk. The paint shortage was caused by paint, not by paint, but by suppliers of polymers and resins and other low tier supplies that are needed to manufacture the product. So interesting. I went and saw the Barbie movie.
I don't know if you've seen the Var Be Movie. I think it's a great story. Uh, I've heard people give it wonderful reviews and I've heard people. Um, give it, uh, not so wonderful reviews, but as a data for daughters, I thought the story was very interesting in terms of a woman's perspective on the world or what she may feel as is her place in the world, in the real world versus Barbie's world.

March April, 1992, uh, Piedmont Avenue, not too far from the entrance of the botanical gardens. Who knew what a great place that would be to invest in property? We have invested in properties that we have improved and resold other people might call those a flip property, but we actually added a lot of value and spent a lot of money on those properties.
That's why I like to call them improved and resold. And then we have owned investment properties and managed investment properties in metro Atlanta for years and years. We got a listener question. Ken and Barbie, ak Barb and Margaret in Milton. Says, okay. We admit that we are watching the H G T V Barbie Dream House Challenge, but we also heard there is a real Barbie Dream House. Where is it located? Well, this is from an article based in Phoenix from a newspaper based in Phoenix, which is.
Probably where the house is. As the movie fueled Barbie craze continues, a Phoenix Couple has the ultimate Barbie Dream house, a transformed 1950s home that is now up for sale for 524,900. If it's in your budget, call us. We'll refer you to a good agent. I know a lot of 'em out of the Phoenix area. It has everything a Barbie could want except Ken.
Of course, over the years, the home has been booked out consistently. As a designation set for, or a destination set for music videos and photo shoots and weddings, and you, you name it. The owners have lived at the home for the past five years and say it's now time for it to be someone else's dream house.
They redid the house 1950 style, which is a lot of pinks and light aqua blues, pastel pastel colors. And thought with the Barbie movie coming out, it was just the perfect time to sell, I think. I would agree. It's decked out in the style of, again, of the 1950s. If you adore vintage style, guaranteed to be love at first sight, you pull up and see the sprawling luxury turf, palm trees, mint green, exterior.
And the two car carport with the famous curved walls and decorative windows. The primary suite is pure glamor. It's got an entire mirrored wall of closets and a reproduction of pattern vinyl flooring. The primary bath is perfect with 1957 time caps. It's a perfect 1957 time capsule with a pedal pink original cabinet with pedal pink original cabinetry complete with a beauty.
Vanity area with a pullout hamper original sink, Hollywood lights, a tiled shower and tub, and you can't miss the hall bathroom. Which features the original yellow tiled shower, a pedestal sink, black and white checkerboard flooring. This does sound like a Barbie home. This might be your rare opportunity to own a piece of iconic architecture along with all the vintage Barbie vibes, but I would say this opportunity is limited only to those.
